Romano claims that the Chelsea star is expected to leave in the January transfer window.

The centre-back position has been a talking point for the Blues, as it has been said that they could sign someone in January to boost Maresca’s options. Chelsea’s defence has been inconsistent this season, so it could be the key to solidity and cementing their spot in the top four.

However, it seems that instead of signing a defender, one of Chelsea’s centre-backs could be on the way out in January. Maresca has been ruthless with players he doesn’t utilise in the past, and the latest case could happen over the next month.

Romano claims Chelsea “offered” Disasi to four clubs

Axel Disasi is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this season after he spent the second half of last year on loan at Aston Villa. The Blues were unable to sell Disasi in the summer, so he has become somewhat of an outcast at Stamford Bridge, much like winger Raheem Sterling.

However, it seems that Chelsea are looking to offload Disasi in January, and transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano has said they have “offered” the Frenchman to four different clubs, including Barcelona.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Disasi has been offered to Barcelona, but the only way is a permanent transfer. Disasi cannot leave Chelsea on a loan deal. It can only be a permanent transfer.

“And so let’s see if Barcelona will decide to proceed with this kind of option, or will they look for a different one because Disasi is still on a big salary at Chelsea, even if he’s out of the squad. For Disasi, there is also Roma, Olympique Lyon and Paris FC interested in the player. He’s been offered, but at the moment, Barcelona have not proceeded so far.”

Chelsea signed Disasi for £39m from French side Monaco in 2023, but since then, he has made just 61 appearances for the Blues.

Could Chelsea sign a centre-back in January?

Marc Guehi is likely to be the biggest talking point in terms of a potential signing for Chelsea in January, as they need a centre-back, and he could be available seeing as he has just six months left on his contract at Crystal Palace.

Liverpool are understood to be keen, but they aren’t expected to make a move to sign Guehi until the summer, when he is a free agent. With that in mind, Chelsea could swoop in and offer a fee to Palace to try and land the England international in the January window, ahead of Liverpool.

Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in the 26-year-old and could make a pre-contract agreement with him in January, as foreign clubs are allowed to start speaking to players six months before their contracts expire.
