Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Bologna striker Santiago Castro, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that the Blues, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are all watching the Argentinian international. However, Chelsea fans on X are not particularly keen on seeing Castro make the switch to Stamford Bridge:

Are we turning into Brighton?

Castro’s asking price is pretty high

It is believed that Bologna want between €40m (£35m) and €50m (£44m), which seems pretty steep considering he has not exactly been scoring on a regular basis this campaign.

Castro has found the back of the net 4 times in the league, with another goal coming in the Coppa Italia.

At 21 years of age, it is clear that Chelsea would be buying potential once again, which is not what the club need up front. They already have the likes of Liam Delap and Marc Guiu who fit that criteria.

Are Chelsea looking at any other forwards?

The recruitment team don’t appear to be seeking a high-profile no.9 based on the transfer links over the past couple of months.

Apart from Castro, the only solid link to a new No.9 has been Saint-Etienne’s Djylian N’Guessan. He is currently playing in France’s second tier.

Reports in France suggest that a bid has already been tabled for the 17-year-old, but it was below Saint-Etienne’s €12.5m (£11m) valuation.
