Liverpool part with set piece coach Briggs

**Liverpool have parted company with set piece coach Aaron Briggs.**

Briggs iniitally arrived at Anfield in summer 2024 as an individual development coach, taking up the position vacated by Vitor Matos several weeks earlier.

He was installed as the Reds’ inaugural set piece coach just two months later as Arne Slot went on to deliver the Premier League title in his debut season.

But the 38-year-old has come under fire in the wake of the champions’ dismal record from set pieces this season after shipping a record 12 goals to date.

Wolves’ reducer in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Anfield took their hosts’ set piece ratio accounting for 46% of their goals conceded in the current top flight.

The decision to part with Briggs is understood to have been a mutual one in light of the continued scrutiny that he faces in light of Liverpool’s issues.

Duties overseen by the ex-Manchester City analyst will be taken in the interim by Slot and his assistants Sipke Hulshoff and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
