Every year, the King or Queen of England recognises and rewards achievements of individuals in their New Year Honours List.
From sport to charity to television to education and beyond, those who have performed wonderful acts are given honours to celebrate their efforts.
Liverpool Football Club have had many former stars recognised for their performances over the years.
John Barnes, Alan Hansen, and Steven Gerrard have all received an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire).
Sir Kenny Dalglish and Sir Roger Hunt got their titles through previous New Year Honours List inclusions also.
And the 2026 version has just been released and it includes a historic Liverpool player who achieved something remarkable in their career also.
The New Year Honours List 2026 officially names Kerry Davis an MBE.
Davis became England’s first black woman international in 1982 and went on to win 90 caps for her country.
During his playing career, she spent two years playing for Liverpool Ladies between 1992 and 1994.
She also spent time at Lazio and Napoli in Italy, as well as two spells with Crewe Alexandra before finishing her career at Croydon Women.
Kerry Davis played in the first UEFA championships for national women’s teams in 1984.
England reached the final only to lose to Sweden on penalties, despite Davis successfully converting her kick.
Davis also won the FA Women’s Premier League in the 1995–96, as well as the FA Women’s Cup in 1996.
Her achievements were already recognised within the football community as she was inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame in 2022.
And from now on, she will be known as Kerry Davis MBE.
