Tuesday’s Liverpool news saw set-piece coach Aaron Briggs leave the club while transfer links with Joel Ordonez grew stronger.
Joel Ordonez links ramp up
With Liverpool down to just two senior centre-backs due to injuries affecting Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni, they are reportedly in the market for a defender.
Having been “kept an eye on, especially before they signed Leoni,” according to the *Mail*‘s Lewis Steele, a South American outlet has now claimed Liverpool are “frontrunners” to sign Ordonez from Club Brugge.

BolaVIP report that Ordonez “was very keen to join Chelsea,” but they “withdrew from negotiations” leaving Liverpool a path to his signature. Inter Milan are also said to be “closely monitoring” him.
At just 21 years old, the Ecuadorian is attracting this attention due to his performances across two and a half years for Club Brugge, where he has played 105 games including 18 Champions League starts.
The fee in January could reach over £35 million, say BolaVIP.

Liverpool FC: On this day

On December 30, 2017, Philippe Coutinho played his last game for Liverpool as we beat Leicester 2-1 at Anfield.
Jamie Vardy struck the first goal, in the process becoming the first Foxes player to score in five consecutive games against Liverpool, before Mo Salah netted twice in the second-half to secure Liverpool’s win.
While we may have been sad to see Coutinho go at the time, we would all choose to sell him again in a heartbeat given the impact of the two players who were signed with his Barcelona fee, Alisson and Virgil van Dijk, the latter of whom was watching on from the Main Stand that day.
