Arsenal eyeing up January move for 20-year-old midfielder from Brazilian giants: Reports

Corinthians star Breno Bidon has emerged on Arsenal’s transfer radar ahead of the January transfer window, as per reports.

The Gunners, who are currently sitting atop the Premier League table, are set to make necessary reinforcements with the winter transfer window on the horizon as they aim to end their near misses in the Premier League title race.

According to journalist Samir Carvalho, Arsenal are one of three teams that have ‘recently contacted’ Corinthians about Bidon. Carvalho revealed on his YouTube channel:

“Arsenal is one of the clubs that recently contacted Corinthians, so we’ll wait and see. Oh, [one more] important thing about Bidon: three clubs contacted Corinthians, but none have yet made a formal offer. I think it’s good to keep you informed.

“So, three clubs contacted Corinthians, but none of the three (one I know is Arsenal, I don’t know about the other two) have made an official offer… Corinthians said that, depending on the price, yes [they will sell]. Okay. So now offers for Breno Bidon should arrive.”

Bidon came through the ranks at Corinthians and was promoted to the senior team in 2024. At just 20 years of age, the Brazil international has racked up 100 senior appearances for Corinthians. He reached the milestone against Vasco da Gama in the second leg of the Brazilian Cup final, which they won last week Monday.

Mikel Arteta's side have developed a knack for scouting youngsters from Brazil in recent seasons. Should the Gunners eventually sign Bidon, he will most likely quickly integrate into the team, as Mikel Arteta has multiple Brazilians in his squad. In fact, defender Gabriel Magalhaes has even gone as far as to call him ‘genius’ on Instagram.

Arsenal ‘actively looking’ for new signings in January transfer window – Mikel Arteta

With just a few days into 2026, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that his side are set to ease their injury problems by ‘actively looking’ at signing new players when the transfer window opens next month.

The Gunners went on a spending spree in the summer but may splurge some cash into the market next month with some of their first-team players on the sidelines.

Speaking ahead of the Aston Villa clash, Arteta told reporters:

“The window is there. We're Arsenal. Now, we have to be looking at it. OK, what do we need? We have to be actively looking. And then can we do it or not? That's a different story, but our job is to always be very prepared because something can happen. So, hopefully very positive.”

In their last outing against Brighton & Hove Albion, Magalhaes returned from an injury he suffered on international duty with Brazil, coming on as a substitute.
