NBA star Josh Giddey has gone public with his new girlfriend almost two years after being cleared over allegations he had an improper relationship with an underage girl.

The Chicago Bulls point guard, 23, shared a number of festive photos alongside Alyssa Paranteau on Christmas Day. The couple could be seen wearing matching outfits as they enjoyed the holiday season together.

They went Instagram official a little under two years after police confirmed that Giddey would not face charges over the claims of an improper relationship.

The Australian - then with the Oklahoma City Thunder - was embroiled in a scandal after photos and videos emerged on social media, appearing to show Giddey with an underage girl.

But according to reports in his native Australia, the incident happened several years ago. The Thunder guard believed the teen was 19 when they met at a nightclub in 2021.

And after discovering she was in fact under 18 the next day, Giddey is said to have broken off the relationship.

Back in January 2024, Newport Beach Police Department closed the case. 'After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completely closed our investigation into the information that was circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey,' a statement read.

'Our detectives have reviewed all of the available information and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr Giddey.

'The Newport Beach Police Department is committed to ensuring accurate information is disseminated to the public, while also ensuring the rights of all those involved.'

Now 23, Giddey continued to play for the Thunder throughout the investigation. He was repeatedly booed and taunted by fans of opposing teams after the allegations surfaced. In 2024, the NBA closed its own investigation into the affair.

Giddey went on to join the Bulls and in September he agreed a four-year, $100million extension with Chicago.
