Kings remain in pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga

Sacramento Kings remain interested in trading for Jonathan Kuminga as the Golden State Warriors explore possible moves ahead of the deadline.

Golden State Warriors are reportedly open to trading forward Jonathan Kuminga as the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaches, and the Sacramento Kings appear to be one of the teams keeping interest in the 23-year-old alive.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, speaking on Sactown Sports 1140, the Kings “do still have interest” in acquiring Kuminga.

Amick noted that Sacramento was already pursuing Kuminga during the summer when he was a restricted free agent, alongside the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls.

“For one, the Kings and everyone else, the price has gone down, it just has,” Amick said. “So what does that look like in a possible Kings deal, because the Warriors are known to not have interest in Malik Monk, and he was front and center in those discussions in the offseason. So is it a [DeMar DeRozan] thing potentially? Who knows? I don't probably see that happening.”

Kuminga has been out of the rotation recently, sitting out healthy in Golden State’s 120-107 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.

He hasn’t played since Dec. 18. In 18 games this season, Kuminga is averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest.

Kuminga could return to action on Wednesday when the Warriors (17-16) face the Charlotte Hornets (11-21) on the road.
