Big Mac Allister upgrade: Liverpool make £60m offer to sign 'world-class' midfielder for Slot…

Liverpool are considering making more signings during the January transfer window despite a £400m+ summer spend to strengthen Arne Slot's squad.

The Reds looked to have done some of the best business of any club just a few months ago when they brought in the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz in record-breaking deals, but those two players have largely flattered to deceive and have only recently hit form.

Isak of course, has suffered a broken leg, although one insider has suggested that the Sweden international could be back sooner than expected given the injury he is recovering from.

The forward areas and at centre-back - where Ibrahima Konate's contract is expiring in June and Virgil van Dijk has declined in performance since last season - look to be key for Liverpool, but Reds chiefs are said to have made a major move to bring a midfielder to Anfield.

Liverpool Make £60m Bid for Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga (France)

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Richard Hughes has launched another big-money offer for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

The Merseyside outfit look set to face a battle to prise the France international away from the Bernabeu however, with president Florentino Perez having no intention of selling a player who is key for Los Blancos both now and for many years in the future.

Liverpool's interest in the 23-year-old isn't new as they have monitored his progress for many years, believing he would be the ideal fit for their midfield.

Unless the Reds are willing to signficantly raise their offer however, Real Madrid's not for sale stance will remain in place.

Camavinga Would be a Big Mac Allister Upgrade

Liverpool's midfield has been one of the strongest parts of the team in recent seasons with the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai among the club's top and most consistent performers.

While many of the Reds' players have failed to hit the heights of last term, Mac Allister and Gravenberch have stood out in the midfield area as declining in performance, whereas Szoboszlai has improved and arguably been the club's player of the season so far.

While it is difficult to throw too much criticism the way of a player with the quality of Mac Allister, it does also feel as though we are approaching a stage in 2026 - whether it's in January or the summer - where a midfield refresh is needed to bring back the Liverpool we saw in 2024-25.

Camavinga is a quality player who has been described as 'world-class' by the Athletic's data writer Thom Harris, and it is a more than fair label for the Frenchman.

Despite only turning 23 years of age last month, the midfielder has already nearly racked up a double century of appearances for Real after joining them as a 19-year-old in 2021.

To adapt and perform consistently for a club the size of Real Madrid in a new country at such a young age is testament to his mental state, but it is ability on the ball which really makes him stand out.

Camavinga also has 28 France caps with his ability across a number of midfield positions standing out after graduating from the Rennes academy.

While he is a midfield star, Camavinga has also shown great versatility and has shone in a left-back role too when required to by the LaLiga giants.

With Milos Kerkez so far failing to hit the ground running and Andy Robertson getting no younger, the Frenchman's ability to play there as well as in midfield would be valuable.
