While Liverpool are looking to sign exciting new players in 2026, they could also see several of their own head out the door.

Recent departure rumours have started to rise around Anfield, with Ibrahima Konate’s contract expiring in six months. The future of Mohamed Salah also hangs in the balance, as links connecting him with a move to Saudi Arabia have reignited after he went public with comments about his lack of playing time under Arne Slot.

Another player struggling to get regular minutes in the tank is Federico Chiesa. Despite showing his ability to provide important goals and assists, he is not favoured by the manager and now, reports are suggesting he could be moved on .

Potential Federico Chiesa return is ‘tantalising’ Juventus

Liverpool signed Chiesa last summer from Juventus in a £12.5 million deal as back-up for Salah. However, he has struggled to get his tenure at Anfield off the ground, especially this season.

The winger has played just 392 minutes of football this season in all competitions. He has been limited to just 12 cameo appearances in the Premier League, totalling 151 minutes, and he was on the pitch for just one minute against Tottenham Hotspur.

With Chiesa eyeing a place in the Italian national team for the World Cup, he may need to make the decision to move elsewhere to boost his chances of a call-up. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the idea of signing Chiesa on a second spell is ‘tantalising’ Juventus executives.

It will ‘become clear’ in the coming weeks whether the Serie A powerhouses plan on acting on their interest and evolving this link into a ‘more serious and concrete discussion’.

Federico Chiesa praised despite limited Liverpool action

After Liverpool’s win over Southampton in the Carabao Cup earlier this season, Chiesa earned praise for his efforts. The Italian played the full 90 minutes and assisted both of Liverpool’s goals in a standout performance.

Former Red Jamie Redknapp was quick to praise Chiesa’s display. Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, the pundit said: “I thought he was fabulous today. His energy, desire, it hasn’t gone well for him so far. He’s had a few moments and definitely lately you’ve seen signs that he is going back to that player we all knew he could be.

“But I think today he was just what they needed, as without him, they would have been in a bit of a hole. The two assists were exceptional,” (via liverpool.com).

Whether Chiesa is tempted by a move back to his former club remains to be seen, as he is clearly eager to work for his place at Anfield. Earlier this year, the winger stressed: “I want to play for Liverpool! I want to be here, I want to do my best for this club.

“I'm enjoying being at the club, Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world… and the fanbase is amazing. Playing at Anfield gives me shivers.”
