Speaking during a World Sports Summit discussion about the global growth of the sport, the former NBA champion pointed to pace as the biggest contrast between the two competitions.

According to Parker, the NBA has long set the standard with its speed and athleticism, but European basketball is steadily catching up.

“I think the biggest difference is the speed of the game,” Parker said. “Obviously, the Americans, you know, the NBA, they were the best for a long, long time. And the biggest difference is they were just going faster and jumping higher. And slowly but surely, you know, we're closing the gap, you know, with European basketball.”

Parker explained that while EuroLeague games have traditionally been more controlled and tactical, teams are now adjusting to modern trends. With the NBA leaning heavily into pace, space, and three-point shooting, European teams are starting to follow the same blueprint.

He pointed to Paris as an example of this shift, noting how teams are becoming more aggressive in transition and shot selection. For Parker, this evolution shows how basketball styles around the world continue to influence one another.

“And so it's interesting to see the evolution, you know, basketball around the world,” he concluded.
