And as a passionate fan of the game, he also knows when and how to give credit to a truly special player.

In the aftermath of the Golden State Warriors' 120-107 win over the Brooklyn Nets, Green offered his praise to the sensational rise of Michael Porter Jr. this season.

"It's different," Green said about facing Porter Jr. with the Nets compared to the Denver Nuggets. "He didn't have as much freedom in Denver. He didn't have the ball that much in Denver.

"He's showing that he's the player that everybody thought or knew he was coming out of college. He's finally getting to show that."

Along with a future first-round asset, Porter Jr. was dealt by the Nuggets to the Nets from the past offseason for Cam Johnson. Since then, he blossomed this season as Brooklyn's newest star and leader.

Enjoying maximized touches and possession, Porter Jr. is currently averaging a career high 25.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 26 games. Many heckled his arrival in the Nets, but Porter Jr. proved his doubters wrong in the wake of the best campaign of his career.

Although the Nets (10-20) are currently in a rebuild situation, they have won a handful of games recently behind Porter Jr.'s brilliance.

Once he continues his stellar play, Porter Jr. is poised to clinch his first All-Star nod and solidify his case as part of the Nets franchise's future plans.
