Celtics' Derrick White stamps historic shot-blocking record as a guard

The Boston star registered seven huge blocks in the team's victory over the Jazz.

Despite standing at 6-foot-4, Derrick White threw a historic block party for the Boston Celtics.

In the team's 129-119 road victory over the Utah Jazz, the star guard delivered a two-way masterclass. Beyond recording 27 points in 8-16 shooting along with seven boards and six assists to lead the Celtics, White's seven rejections stand as an eye-popping number.

According to Celtics announcer Sean Grande, no other guard in NBA history has tallied that statistical line.

White is currently ranked 13th in the NBA's all-time blocks for a guard. While he still has a lot to catch up on Dwyane Wade who remains atop the leaderboard (885 total blocks), this doesn't change the fact that the veteran is one of the best defensive guards ever.
