5 Best Finishers in the Premier League, Based on Their xG

A lot of credence is put into statistics in the Premier League. Gone are the days of ‘analogue’ coaching – recruitment, team building and over management is very data-driven in today’s game.

We’ll be following this trend today to determine who the best finishers are in the Premier League today. To do this, we will compare their xG against their actual scored goals and work out the difference.

Antoine Semenyo

Here’s a name that you might not have expected to see – not only is Antoine Semenyo an excellent dribbler and creator, his finishing has also been top-notch for Bournemouth this season.

There are plenty of reasons why he’s so coveted – it would be very surprising to see him still at Dean Court before the start of the 2026/27 season.

Semenyo has scored 9 goals in the Premier League this season, with an xG of 6.2 – as such, the Ghanaian international has a goals-to-xG ratio of +2.8.

Ryan Gravenberch

Another unexpected name on this list is Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutchman’s inclusion on this list is largely due to the accuracy of his longshots – as a defensive midfielder, he seldom gets a chance to burst into the box.

Despite having a meagre xG of just 1.0, Gravenberch has 4 goals to his name this season. Therefore, the Dutch international has a goals-to-xG ratio of +3.0 this season.

This season has been a difficult one for Gravenberch, but his goalscoring touch has certainly improved – he didn’t score a single Premier League goal in 2024/25, despite having a much better campaign overall.

Richarlison

Richarlison has often been characterised as a forward who displays profligacy in front of goal, but you certainly can’t say this about him in the 2025/26 season.

The Brazilian international has been excellent in front of goal, both in terms of his movement and his composed finishing.

He has racked up 7 goals so far this season, with an xG of only 3.8. When subtracted, Richarlison has an xG-to-goals ratio of +3.2 – a huge improvement over his tally from last season, which stood at just +0.3.

Hugo Ekitike

Hugo Ekitike has been an inspired signing for Liverpool. Despite being expected to function as deputy to Alexander Isak, it has largely been the other way around – Isak has floundered, while Ekitike as ex Liverpool ace Bobby Firmino has highlighted has turned out to be a gem and has thrived on Merseyside.

He has scored an impressive total of 8 goals so far this season in the Premier League, alongside an xG of +3.2.

Can Ekitike continue his good form throughout the season? He is on course for an incredibly impressive debut campaign in the Premier League as things stand.

Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers is another breakout star from the current season. He has shown a multitude of facets to his game – he scored one of the best goals of the season against Manchester United recently amongst his 7 goals.

Additionally, he also has the best xG-to-goals ratio in the Premier League at the moment. As things stand, he has a ratio of +4.1.

Big things are certainly on the horizon for this young man – could he make a splash for England at the 2026 World Cup?
