Hill and Jimenez impressive as Cherries improve in Blues draw: Player ratings

Bournemouth led early on through a David Brooks goal, before the Blues equalised from the penalty spot nine minutes later.

But they weren’t level for long as Enzo Fernandez handed the hosts the advantage with 23 minutes on the clock.

The Cherries roared back, though, and Justin Kluivert touched home from close range for the team’s second goal from a long throw to equalise four minutes later.

That was the final goal of the game as the Cherries then impressed defensively to keep their hosts at bay and earn a point.

The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in the draw at the Bridge.

**Djordje Petrovic: 7**

A display that looked much more confident from the Serbian. He guessed the right way for the penalty but Palmer’s power took it past him, and he had no chance for the Fernandez goal. But otherwise, he made some top saves and looked good in his box as Chelsea dominated the ball in the second half.

**Adrien Truffert: 7**

A good performance from the left back, he looked bright going forward, particularly in the first half, with a couple of excellent crosses. He was caught out a couple of times by Estevao in that first period, though.

**Marcos Senesi: 8**

Both centre backs produced very good performances to keep the Blues at bay. It was a much better defensive showing overall, and that started with Senesi and Hill.

**James Hill: 9**

As above, but Hill was particularly impressive. The Englishman started his first game since the Fulham win in October, but slotted straight in and defended brilliantly, dealing with Delap very well.

**Alex Jimenez: 9**

My man of the match. Jimenez is really growing into an excellent acquisition and looked superb going forward and defensively. He made a couple of brilliant tackles on Estevao late on as Chelsea pushed for a winner, and bringing the ball forward he looked a threat.

**Marcus Tavernier: 7**

A good showing from Tavernier in midfield once again. In chaotic games such as last night, the Englishman’s ability to drive at the defence from deep in midfield brings a lot to the Cherries team.

**Alex Scott: 8**

Scott kept Cole Palmer quiet for the time that he was on the pitch and he put in a top performance from the number six role.

**David Brooks: 8**

The Welshman scored his first goal in 360 games for the Cherries in a bit of a scramble. A good all-round performance from the winger, hopefully his goal is the first of many this season.

**Justin Kluivert: 7**

Kluivert also looked back to approaching his best in a Cherries shirt. Another who thrived at times in the chaotic nature of the first half, he too got himself on the scoresheet, and he won’t have an easier finish for a while with a tap in from close range.

**Antoine Semenyo: 7**

The Ghanaian put the noise around his future behind him for the 90 minutes and he was a threat. He gave away the penalty, which I thought was very soft and a harsh call, but he produced the two long throws from which the Cherries scored their goals.

**Evanilson: 7**

The Brazilian was good, and was energetic in pressing from the front as usual, bringing intensity from the start as the Cherries started well. He showed just what he brings to the team in that aspect and was an important part of Bournemouth’s good start.

**Substitutes:**

**Amine Adli: 6**

**Enes Unal: 6**

**Adam Smith: N/A**
