Liverpool have included AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara in their transfer target list, according to Jeunes Footeux.
The Reds are looking to further improve their midfield and are already watching Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche closely.
It’s possible they noticed the Senegal international when they were monitoring Akliouche and have added him to their list. Liverpool see Camara as an ‘ideal candidate to add depth and intensity’ to Arne Slot’s squad.
The 21-year-old is currently with his national team at AFCON, featuring in all three matches so far. He’s said to be emerging as a ‘rising star in African football’.
Monaco appointed Sébastien Pocognoli as their new manager in October. Camara picked up an ankle in September and returned to the pitch a month ago. He’s quickly managed to find a place in the coach’s starting lineup.
Pocognoli has already praised the Senegalese and is counting on him for the future. The player has a contract until 2029, but his sale would see the Ligue 1 side raise funds.
Jeunes Footeux state Monaco are caught between pleasing their manager and improving their finances.
They could sell him if there’s an attractive offer from England, although it’s not clear the level of fee needed to tempt Monaco.
Liverpool and Tottenham were linked with Lamine Camara earlier this year.
