Despite being a four-time All-Star and one of the top shooters and passers in the league, Young has not attracted much attention from other teams as the trade deadline approaches, and there are reportedly reasons for this.

According to one NBA executive, players “hate” playing with Trae Young, and his defense is one of the reasons why.

“It’s hard to think of a team that’s trying to win this season that Trae would help, especially once you factor in what that team would be losing from the players they would have to send back as matching salary. He doesn’t defend. He doesn’t rebound. Guys hate playing with him,” sports podcaster Ryen Russillo revealed on his podcast.

Young is in the final year of his contract with the Hawks, though he still has a player option for next season worth over $48 million.

In his eighth NBA season, the 27-year-old guard is averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game, shooting 30.5% from three in 10 appearances with Atlanta this season.
