A host of Matildas stars arrived at the stunning Dionysus Villa in Perth to toast their captain Sam Kerr and her new wife, Kristie Mewis, as they tied the knot on New Year’s Eve.

The happy couple had requested their guests dress in an all-black theme, with Steph Catley, Alanna Kennedy and Mackenzie Arnold, all looking radiant as they arrived for the ceremony.

Kerr and her wedding party had stayed overnight at the Crown Towers in Perth, before they were seen departing via a minivan to the venue.

Many of the invitees were pictured arriving at the hotel before boarding a coach, which took them to the venue.

Emily Van Egmond, who recently announced that she and her partner Kat Thompson, had welcomed a baby girl, named Maddix, was also among the guests.

She wore a suave black tuxedo and was seen stepping onto the coach alongside Catley. Her partner, Thompson, who she married a year ago, was not seen.

Over 100 friends and family members arrived for the stunning ceremony, with Arsenal star Catley beaming as she walked to the bus.

Catley stunned in a glamorous black strapless dress. The 31-year-old defender had returned to Australia from the UK after playing a part in Arsenal’s 2-0 Women’s League Cup victory against Crystal Palace on December 21.

Her Arsenal team-mates, Caitlin Foord and her girlfriend Katie McCabe, who hails from Ireland, arrived wearing stunning black gowns.

Kennedy and Arnold both appeared locked in conversation as they boarded the bus. The pair had opted to wear black trousers, with the former donning a corset with a keyhole cut out on her midriff. Arnold, who wore a black dinner vest, was seen showing Kennedy something on her phone.

The group were chauffeured 30 minutes north-east from the Crown Towers hotel, to Swan Valley, and congregated outside the luxurious $3million Dionysus Villa.

The Matildas stars gathered around, toasting their team-mate Kerr and her new wife, Mewis.

But in searing 35-degree Perth heat, some sought shelter, with multiple members of the wedding party seen taking cover from the sun under white parasols.

The ceremony was held in front of the Villa’s stunning pilasters and arches.

In front of their team-mates, family and friends, the footballing power couple, who were engaged in 2023 and had a baby seven months ago, gazed into each other’s eyes as they recited their wedding vows.

Mewis also touched her wife’s arm during the ceremony in a show of affection, before smiling back at her partner.

After Kerr and Mewis had said ‘I do’, the pair stopped and shared a kiss in front of the wedding party, who cheered and clapped the happy couple.

The footballers mingled with other guests during the ceremony, with Kerr also seen sharing a big hug with her father, Roger.

Before the wedding, Kristie, who previously played for West Ham and the women’s US National Team, joked that she was a little nervous about having to meet and greet over 100 people all in one night.

'Obviously, it is a lot of people, I know people have a lot bigger weddings than that, but that's a lot,' she said to the Mewis Squared podcast.

'For me to wrap my head around talking to 120 people in one night is a lot.

'And the things that worry me are that I'm not going to be able to give enough time to everybody, so that's what I'm stressing about right now.'

Kerr had walked down the aisle with their baby boy Jagger, something that Mewis had previously said was going to make her cry.

'That is going to be gut-wrenching for me, I will sob when that happens,' Kristie had told the podcast.

The Matildas captain, who returned to the pitch in recent months following an ACL injury, donned a tuxedo complete with a white boutonniere for her special day

Kerr returned to the football pitch in September after having spent over 600 days on the sidelines due to an ACL injury.

There were doubts over whether she would retain the Matildas captain’s armband in the wake of her high-profile court case in London.

However, Kerr, who is the Matildas’ all-time leading goalscorer, would retain the armband when she returned to international duty during Australia’s 2-0 win against New Zealand at the beginning of December.

Kerr said ahead of her return: ‘This team will make football decisions, and I feel football-wise I am one of the best leaders in the team, so I feel really passionate and proud that I've been in that position before and hopefully (it will) continue forward.’

The Aussie striker, who has scored 69 goals in 131 international appearances, is now in line to lead the Matildas out again in March at the Women’s Asian Cup.

Australia will take on the Philippines, Iran and South Korea in the group stages.
