After a December from hell, discontent is the dominant feeling at Chelsea and Enzo Maresca is in the spotlight.
The Blues are five points worse off than they were at this point in the Premier League last season.
It’s just two wins from nine since Chelsea beat Barcelona at Stamford Bridge back in November, and there are clear cracks showing in Enzo Maresca’s side.
Because of that, pressure is building on the manager. The Chelsea board think Maresca has become distracted after the drama of recent weeks involving credible links to Man City.
So much so that murmurings of a sacking are picking up steam.

Following their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, Chelsea have now won just one of their last seven games in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca has until the end of January to turn Chelsea form around
The problems at Chelsea run deeper than Maresca, but as is often the case in football, the manager will be first to go if a change is deemed necessary.
That’s what Sky Sports Chief Correspondent Kaveh Solhekol has told us.
He writes: “As everyone knows, football is a results business. Maresca is ending 2025 as the Chelsea head coach, but he is unlikely to make it to the end of January unless results improve quickly.
“This is the second successive season Chelsea have lost their way over the winter months under Maresca. Last season they won only two league games between mid-December and the final week of February. This year, a January which is likely to be defining for Maresca includes nine games across four competitions.”

You’ll find plenty of differing opinions about where the blame lies at Chelsea. Here’s one: Maresca has done about as well as one could have expected given the tools at his disposal and the level of competition around him.
Two things can be true. His recent results haven’t been good enough. But it’s not like a change in manager guarantees any better output.
Enzo Maresca can turn this around
This new development came as somewhat of a surprise. There were rumblings, but this sounds far more concrete.
It’s not a foregone conclusion though. Chelsea have by no means an easy schedule, but that might not be a bad thing.
Maresca’s side tend to show up in the bigger games, and there are some crackers coming up in January.
All it takes is one or two good performances, and the complexion of Chelsea’s season — and Maresca’s future — can change.
