Premier League champions Liverpool continue to be linked with several potential new signings as the January transfer window approaches. Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a move to Anfield, amid reports of a £65million release clause in his contract. However, Manchester City are widely reported to be the forward’s most likely destination in the New Year.

Speculation also continues over the future of Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace, with Liverpool still linked to the England international after seeing a £35million move fall through during the summer transfer window. Elsewhere, there is uncertainty surrounding Harvey Elliott’s future amid his loan spell at Aston Villa. Reports have suggested that Elliott could return to Anfield in January, despite Villa holding a £35million obligation to make the move permanent.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool academy graduate James Norris is in talks over a permanent move to Shelbourne following a successful loan spell with the Irish club. The 22-year-old left-back won Shelbourne’s Young Player of the Year award for the 2025 season and returned to Merseyside in early November after the conclusion of the club’s domestic campaign. While Norris impressed during his time in Ireland, his loan ended on a sour note after he was shown a straight red card just 16 minutes into Shelbourne’s UEFA Conference League defeat to Kosovan side FC Drita.

Despite that setback, his spell at the club should be considered a resounding success. His move to Ireland followed a spell back at Liverpool, where he was named on the first-team bench on four occasions but did not make a competitive appearance. Norris’ only other experience of senior football came during a loan spell at Tranmere Rovers in the 2023/24 season, where he made 20 appearances. He was also part of Liverpool academy sides that represented the first team in cup fixtures against Aston Villa in 2019 and Shrewsbury Town in 2022.
