Unlike almost every other club, Liverpool no longer have a specified set piece coach.
The Reds have been nothing short of abysmal when it has come to set pieces this season, with their record the worst in Europe.
They have conceded from 12 already this season and only scored from just one in the league themselves, showing just how much they have struggled.

This has led to set piece coach Aaron Briggs departing the club, meaning they currently do not have anyone solely focusing on this issue.
Journalist David Lynch has revealed what Liverpool’s plan is though, and Liverpool fans might be a little worried at the prospect.
Liverpool are not planning on hiring a set piece coach this season
We are only just about to reach the halfway mark in the season, meaning Liverpool still have plenty of time to turn things around.

With that said, Lynch has confirmed that there are currently no plans to replace Briggs, something that may seem a strange decision that could backfire.
“The long-term solution, of course, would be appointing a dedicated and experienced set-piece coach, which the Reds will now look to do in order to bring themselves in line with their Premier League rivals,” he wrote on his Substack.
“For now, however, it is hoped that the shock of a mid-season departure and the sharing of Briggs’ duties among the remaining coaching staff can inspire change in an area that had been threatening to derail the season entirely.”

If there is one team who will be able to cause Liverpool some real issues at the moment, it is Leeds, with the Whites already doing exactly that this season.
They will use their aerial prowess to make the game ugly, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin knowing exactly how to cause problems.
Liverpool struggled even when they had a set piece coach against Leeds, so now they will have to hope that the shared responsibility will have flipped a switch, although that seems unlikely.
If the Reds fail to win this one, it will likely be because of this reason, suggesting that getting a set piece coach in sooner rather than later is the best option.
