After his interview, the Egyptian was dropped from the squad by Arne Slot before returning against Brighton and Hove Albion.

He has since left England to compete at the AFCON, and there has been much talk around Salah’s future.

How much Liverpool could earn from Mohamed Salah transfer

There has been a suggestion that Salah could leave Liverpool in 2026, with a potential move in the summer mentioned.

However, speaking on the Beyond The Back Four podcast, finance expert Kieran Maguire has mooted a January exit.

Maguire suggested Liverpool could cash in now and earn £100m for their star winger.

He said: “18 months on contract, generous for player of his age. Knew he could’ve left for nothing in summer so insured themselves should current scenario arise. Logical thing is for him to leave, has had emotional farewell in front of Kop.

“Liverpool could sell and get £100m for him, but initial concern given Isak injury is they need depth in squad, but I’m reconsidering. They could cash in and have some promising youngsters to whizz up and down wings. Take money now and reinvest in summer.

“Majority of elite forwards are already at elite clubs, it isn’t critical. Like on a CV, desirable but not essential.”

What is Liverpool’s stance on Mohamed Salah exit

Salah has been impressing at the AFCON for Egypt ahead of a return to Merseyside at some point this month.

At present, the noise coming out of Anfield is that Liverpool want Salah to stay beyond January.

It was added last month that the only reason for a potential exit this winter would be if the player pushed hard for a move.

Whether that happens remains to be seen, but for the time being at least, Salah should be focused on Egypt and their success at the AFCON.
