Alisson can reach new Liverpool milestone with clean sheet against Leeds

An Alisson clean sheet will go a long way towards helping Liverpool beat Leeds, and it would also see the Brazilian reach a new milestone.

The Reds kick off 2026 with a Premier League clash against the Whites at Anfield, looking to make it four victories in a row.

For Alisson, it could be another memorable occasion in one of the great modern Liverpool careers.

The 33-year-old would become only the fifth Reds goalkeeper in history to keep 100 clean sheets in the league, if he secures a shutout against Leeds.

Ray Clemence, Bruce Grobbelaar, Pepe Reina and Elisha Scott are the others to have reached that tally so far.

Liverpool have won 18 of the 31 Premier League era meetings with Leeds. At Anfield, they have won 10 and drawn one, with four defeats.

The Reds have lost one of the last 13 league meetings (eight wins, four draws) and one in the last 15 in all competitions.

Liverpool last failed to score against Leeds in April 1999 when they played out a 0-0 draw. Home and away, they have scored in 23 of the last 24 league encounters.

They have netted six times in two of the last four meetings, including in their last Anfield victory when Mo Salah (two pens), Joel Matip, Sadio Mane (twice) and Virgil van Dijk all scored in a 6-0 win.

This was Liverpool’s biggest win over Leeds.

Hugo Ekitike could complete quirky record

Sixteen players in history have scored a goal for Liverpool on all seven days of the week.

The last was Cody Gakpo back in August and now Hugo Ekitike will join that list if he finds the net at home to Leeds on Thursday.

Meanwhile, five goals in the match will see 150 recorded in all league meetings at Anfield, with Liverpool scoring 106 of the 145 so far.

Not since 1980/81 have both league encounters finished as draws – both ended goalless.

Liverpool out to avoid slow start

Liverpool have won 14 of the 16 games they have played this season in league and cup when scoring the game’s first goal (one draw, one loss).

The Reds have not led at half time in back-to-back league games since August, against Bournemouth and Newcastle.

Liverpool have also not conceded a first-half goal in any of their last seven matches.

If Slot’s side avoid defeat against Leeds, it will be their longest sequence without a loss for almost a year (24 games).

Leeds aiming for first-ever successive Anfield wins

Leeds have never managed successive league victories at Anfield in their history, but they did win 1-0 in the Fairs Cup in April 1971 and in the league in their next visit in 1972.

They have scored in nine of their last 10 league visits to Liverpool, only failing to score in the 6-0 loss in February 2022.

Leeds are also undefeated in their last five Premier League games (two wins, three draws) since losing 3-2 at Man City at the end of November.

On the road this season, they have won one of their nine league outings – the 3-1 success at Wolves in September.

Should he score in this game, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will become only the fourth Leeds player in history to score in seven or more successive league games.
