Significant update on Liverpool signing Real Madrid ace after rumoured£61m bid

A new update has now emerged regarding Liverpool’s chances of completing the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

The Reds may feel well-stocked in midfield this season, but that hasn’t stopped them from being linked with a move for France international Camavinga.

A recent report claimed that Liverpool have submitted a £61m bid for the 23-year-old, amid potential doubts over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now, a new update from TEAMtalk has poured cold water over the rumour, however, with a source telling them that he wants to remain at Madrid for the foreseeable future:

“Eduardo loves Real, he knows there are options away from the club and one day he may look at those, but at this moment he is looking to get back to full fitness and play a major role in the second-half of the season.”

Signing a player of Camavinga’s calibre would never be a bad thing for Liverpool, with Carlo Ancelotti one of many to heap praise on him throughout his career: “I want to highlight Camavinga’s performance tonight, as he was spectacular.”

Despite this, the Reds have other positions that are bigger priorities, though, with a new centre-back badly needed, possibly even in the January transfer window.

An injury to Virgil van Dijk or Ibrahima Konate would be disastrous, with Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni already out currently, so signing one central defender in January and another in the summer feels like the ideal outcome.

Liverpool also need to be looking at wide attackers, with Mohamed Salah steadily coming towards the end of his career and Cody Gakpo arguably not a world-class option.

Luis Diaz’s exit to Bayern Munich has affected the options there, while even Harvey Elliott can do a job out wide, but was loaned out to Aston Villa.

Signing someone who is capable of shining on either flank would be perfect – Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo stands out, but looks more likely to move to Manchester City – but it remains to be seen who that player will be, with the likes of Michael Olise and Malick Fofana among the names mentioned.
