Contenders: Liam Rosenior, Oliver Glasner, Cesc Fabregas and Andoni Iraola have all been tipped to replace Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach
Chelsea Football Newsletter
Chelsea are on the search for a new manager after parting company with Enzo Maresca.
Maresca was appointed as head coach in July 2024, succeeding Mauricio Pochettino, and lead Chelsea to success in the the Conference League and Club World Cup in his first season.
However, a run of just one win in seven Premier League matches, culminating with the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday evening which saw the team booed off at Stamford Bridge, resulted in crisis talks on New Year’s Day.
The outcome of said talks was a parting of ways, with an official statement reading:” Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company.
“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
“Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.
“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.
“We wish Enzo well for the future.”
Departure: Enzo Maresca
With much to play for during the second half of the season, Chelsea will be keen to make the right appointment and are expected to swiftly move to announce Maresca’s replacement.
