James Norris signs for Shelbourne

After a successful loan stint at Tolka Park, Liverpool academy graduate James Norris has agreed to make the full time switch from Merseyside to North Dublin.

The young defender played 45 times for Shels last year, providing four assists in that time. In those 45 appearances, 11 were in European competition, including three in the UEFA Conference League proper, Shels’ first time in a major European competition.

Joining the club at the age of eight, Norris came through the ranks at Liverpool’s historic academy, Melwood. The same academy that produced talents like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and, of course, Steven Gerrard. He enjoyed a loan spell with Tranmere Rovers in 2024 before making his loan switch to Shels.

The 22 year old fullback spoke to his club media team saying

“Absolutely delighted to make the move permanent. I loved my time here on loan and it feels like the right place for me to continue my development. I cannot wait to get going again, work under the manager and his staff, and play in front of the supporters at Tolka Park again.”

Norris will join up with The Reds as they prepare to build on their third place finish in the 2025 campaign.
