Arsenal, Tottenham face frustration in pursuit of 19-year-old Bundesliga attacking sensation

Said El Mala is reportedly committed to Bundesliga club FC Koln amid the 19-year-old German winger’s links with Premier League bigwigs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Said El Mala. The two Premier League giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a versatile winger next year. So, the 19-year-old FC Koln attacking sensation has emerged as a target for the North London clubs.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Krefeld native. However, the teenage prospect remains committed to FC Koln, with his agent recently revealing he does not want to leave the Bundesliga club anytime soon. Martin Comona said, “A change is not an issue for Said at the moment.”

Who is Said El Mala?

Said El Mala is the latest promising prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Born in Krefeld, the youngster has spent his formative years thus far in Germany, passing through the academies at Linner SV, KFC Uerdingen, Borussia Monchengladbach, TSV Meerbusch, and FC Viktoria Koln. However, the 19-year-old has burst into the spotlight this season at FC Koln.

The teenage sensation has enjoyed his Bundesliga breakthrough this season, chipping in with six goals and three assists in 15 league outings. El Mala has also earned his first call-up to the German national squad due to his exploits for FC Koln, and his progress has piqued the attention of several European bigwigs, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Said El Mala is understandable. While Mikel Arteta has a stacked offensive unit, Leandro Trossard is on the wrong side of 30 and faces an uncertain future at the North London club. Additionally, Gabriel Martinelli has not been as consistent as he would have liked. So, El Mala is a viable target for Arsenal.

As for Tottenham, the Lilywhites are yet to fill Son Heung-min’s void at the North London club since the veteran attacker called time on his spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Additionally, Brennan Johnson is on the cusp of joining Crystal Palace in a deal worth £35 million. So, El Mala is an option worth considering for Tottenham.

However, while several other European bigwigs are also keen on signing El Mala, he remains committed to FC Koln. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 19-year-old German international.
