ELIEZER MAYENDA returns to Sunderland's starting line-up for this evening's home game with Manchester City.

Mayenda makes his first start since August in the only change to the side that started Sunday's 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

The Spaniard replaces Chris Rigg, who drops to the substitutes' bench, and is expected to play in a wide-attacking role.

Lutsharel Geertruida is set to remain in a deep-lying midfield role alongside Granit Xhaka, with Regis Le Bris having named an unchanged defence in the continued absence of the injured Granit Xhaka.

Trai Hume is expected to play at right-back, with Nordi Mukiele partnering Omar Alderete at centre-half.
