Liverpool began the New Year in tedious fashion as they were held to a goalless draw at home to Leeds United on Thursday evening. In a game of very few chances, the nearest the Reds came was when Florian Wirtz had a shot blocked when fed by Hugo Ekitike.
The result, though, means Arne Slot's side remain in the top four and are now unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions.
The ECHO was in attendance at Anfield and here we run the rule over the performance of the Liverpool players.
Alisson Becker 6
Escaped when bizarre pass with outside of foot into midfield invited Ampadu to hit a weak shot the goalkeeper could comfortably save. Otherwise completely bored.
Conor Bradley 6
Some flashes of promise in his relationship with Frimpong down the right before interval. Started second half well but faded. Subbed.
Ibrahima Konate 6
Read the game well with some good interceptions first half and kept distribution simple.
Virgil van Dijk 6
Had physicality tested first half by Nmecha but stood up to it and dealt with Calvert-Lewin during the opening stages.
Andy Robertson 6
A couple of signs of rustiness early on but crosses from wide deserved better response from team-mates. Subbed.
Ryan Gravenberch 6
Saw plenty of the ball first half but not always able to pick the right pass. Similar story after the break when attempted flicks didn't really come off in congested midfield.
Curtis Jones 6
Strong in holding off opponents before break and looked to get Liverpool moving forward even if not every pass was accurate. Second half not so effective and was struggling before being replaced.
Jeremie Frimpong 6
Impressed with his pace down the right and willingness to get to byline and put a cross in. Not quite so convincing during brief stint at right-back. Subbed.
Dominik Szoboszlai 6
Not quite up to the pace of the game first half on his return, but better after that and one shot stung palms of Perri.
Florian Wirtz 6
Saw one shot blocked and a little loose with another opening but otherwise quiet first half and tired significantly after break. Subbed.
Hugo Ekitike 6
Teed up Wirtz for one effort and unsuccessful attempt to divert Frimpong cross. Second half more testing and one shot wide.
SUBS
Milos Kerkez (for Robertson 66) 6
Somewhat too excitable when in possession on occasion.
Cody Gakpo (for Wirtz 66) 6
Unable to make a significant impression going forward.
Alexis Mac Allister (for Jones 66) 6
Could have moved the ball a bit quicker at times.
Federico Chiesa (for Bradley 79)
Brought energy down the right.
Rio Ngumoha (for Frimpong 84)
Rare minutes for the youngster.
