Acquired by the Nets from the Denver Nuggets this past offseason, the forward is currently enjoying the best season of his career by averaging career-highs in points (25.8), rebounds (7.5) and assists (3.3) across 26 games.
As such, NBA insider Jake Fischer identified four key teams that could be monitored on the potential Porter Jr. sweepstakes, as it has been revealed that the rebuilding Nets are at least willing to listen to several offers for the star forward.
The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly assessing the value of Porter Jr. Milwaukee is desperately aiming for an upgrade amid a brutal 14-20 record and to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay.
"It should come as no surprise that Milwaukee, league sources say, is evaluating Porter on top of the targets we've previously reported whose contracts are actually pricier: Sacramento's Zach LaVine and Portland's Jerami Grant," Fischer said.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons are also a must-watch team that could pursue the sweet-shooting forward. However, they haven't called Brooklyn yet about Porter Jr.'s trade availability.
"At the very least, sources say, it's a situation to keep tabs on," Fischer wrote. "Porter could certainly supply the secondary scoring and shooting behind Cade Cunningham that Detroit might well need to make more noise in the postseason."
The Golden State Warriors are another team that internally explored the possibility of pursuing Porter. The Warriors (18-16) have been stuck on the Play-In position in West standings and are expected to make a splash by using Jonathan Kuminga.
"Sources say that Golden State, which helped inspire this whole notebook, has indeed had some internal discussions about whether to pursue Porter."
And finally, the Chicago Bulls may also chase Porter Jr.'s play. The team almost traded for him last year at the expense of Zach LaVine when the 27-year-old was still a part of the Denver Nuggets.
"LaVine is obviously no longer part of Chicago's roster, but the Bulls could make a (somewhat) similar case for adding Porter to Detroit's. The fact that Chicago has previously pursued Porter, if nothing else, suggests it would be wise to keep our antennae up for future conversations," Fischer penned.
