Edwards left the Wolves bench early in their New Year's Eve loss against the Hawks.
Chris Finch is disappointed about Anthony Edwards' controversial exit in the Minnesota Timberwolves' 126-102 loss against the Atlanta Hawks.
Finch told reporters in the postgame that Edwards must have remained in the game despite frustrated feelings about the team on Wednesday.
“Obviously frustrated with the performance and rightfully so, but he needs to stay out on the floor and root for his team,” Finch said.
With the Wolves trailing significantly, Edwards took a sudden walkout to the locker room with eight minutes left in regulation. It was reported that the superstar guard vehemently disagreed over Finch's decision to pull the starters out.
Edwards went viral for slamming his towel to the ground. He led the team on a losing effort with 30 points in 10-of-18 shooting and didn't speak to the media afterward.
The New Year's Eve defeat served as the third of the last four games of the Wolves. They'll aim to bounce back Saturday against the Miami Heat.
