The January transfer window has officially opened and Liverpool could be in for a bustling month of activity.
Despite splashing the cash in the summer on players like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, Arne Slot might be tempted to bring in new blood if the right opportunity arises given his squad are grappling with a dearth of options upfront due to Isak's long-term injury and Mohamed Salah's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The clamour for the Reds to delve into the market has grown louder following injuries to Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez, which have left Liverpool's defence looking threadbare. And after a dire 0-0 draw at home against Leeds, the clamour from fans for new additions at the Premier League champions is only growing. Here's all the latest updates from Anfield.
Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the Premier League match between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace at Villa Park on August 31, 2025 in Birmingham, England.

Marc Guehi boost
Crystal Palace's head coach Oliver Glasner has confessed he is unsure whether Guehi will stay at the club during the January transfer window, reports the Mirror.
The Reds were on the brink of securing the England centre-back on transfer deadline day in September, but the deal collapsed at the eleventh hour.
Liverpool had agreed a £35million fee with Palace and Guehi even underwent a medical. The 25-year-old defender's contract expires at the end of the 2025/26 season and he has no plans to renew his contract with the Eagles.
While there's been scant progress on Liverpool renewing their pursuit of Guehi thus far, Glasner has confessed he's in the dark about his skipper's fate this month, handing the Reds hope that a deal could come to fruition.

Discussing Guehi's prospects, Glasner remarked: "You will ask me all these questions again and again and again. I need to find one answer. I will always tell you the same, as long as I don't know anything else.
"Because, believe me, if I knew something. I would tell you. So I don't know what's going on. I don't know what will happen with Marc [Guehi]. I don't know what will happen with new players, and I don't know what will happen with JP [Jean-Philippe Mateta], I don't know anything."
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate remain Liverpool's sole available centre-back choices at present. Gomez is nursing an injury whilst summer acquisition Leoni has been sidelined for the campaign with an ACL problem.

James Norris has completed a permanent switch to Shelbourne. The 22-year-old defender has been on loan with the League of Ireland Premier Division outfit since February.
The transfer brings the curtain down on Norris's lengthy connection with his childhood club. The Liverpool-born talent joined the academy at under-9s level.
He progressed through the youth system to earn two first-team outings. His bow arrived in December 2019, aged 16, when he came off the bench in the 5-0 Carabao Cup quarter-final thrashing at Aston Villa.

He became the fourth-youngest player in Liverpool's history at that point. Norris' second and final outing for Liverpool's senior side occurred in January 2022 when he was brought on during stoppage time in the 4-1 FA Cup third-round victory against Shrewsbury Town at Anfield.

A club spokesperson said: "Everyone at Liverpool FC wishes James the best of luck for the future."
Multiple promising talents from Liverpool's youth setup could now be lined up for temporary moves this month, with players such as Trent Kone-Doherty, Rhys Williams, Kieran Morrison and Calvin Ramsay all potential exits.
