Player‘one signature away’ from Liverpool–Chelsea pushed aside

Earlier this week, Bolvaip reported Liverpool have a clear way to sign Joel Ordóñez after Chelsea dropped out of the race. They also stated Club Brugge will need over €40m to sell him in the winter market.

Ecuadorian newspaper Diario Expreso picks up on that and covers the latest on the transfer.

Their title says Ordóñez is ‘set to join Liverpool with a lucrative contract’.

Within the report, it’s said the Reds are ‘one signature away’ from finalising the operation.

The newspaper points out about the interest shown by other clubs, including Chelsea and Inter Milan. Liverpool’s sporting project tipped the balance in their favour. The defender’s profile and age fits what the English club are looking for in the market.

Diario Expreso report Reds managing director Michael Edwards is leading the transfer negotiations with Club Brugge and the clubs have agreed main terms.

The 21-year-old is ‘details away’ from becoming the new Liverpool player. There’s no mention as to what those details or the transfer fee.

Ordóñez is said to earn $7m [€5.95m] per year excluding bonuses at Anfield. Although this doesn’t seem to be too high for Liverpool, Expreso say it’s ‘lucrative’, likely for an Ecuadorian player.
