Rich Paul shuts down LeBron James and Stephen Curry team-up talk

Rich Paul shut down speculation about LeBron James and Stephen Curry ever teaming up in the NBA, responding sarcastically to the idea and saying it is not going to happen.

The idea of LeBron James and Stephen Curry playing on the same NBA team has followed the league for years. Fans and analysts have often debated how the two superstars would fit together on the court. This week, that talk came up again, but it did not last long.

Rich Paul, LeBron James' longtime agent, shut down the discussion during a conversation sparked by Max Kellerman. Kellerman explained why he believed the pairing could work, pointing to Curry's ability to play off the ball and LeBron's role as a point forward.

“I was thinking about Draymond, watching two point-forwards playing on the same team with a point guard who’s off-ball a lot,” Kellerman said. “Oh my god, the more I think about it, the more I need to see it. And the more I think about it, the more I think it actually makes basketball sense for both teams.”

Paul responded quickly and with clear sarcasm.

“Why don’t we just play Duck, Duck, Goose?” Paul said.

When Kellerman asked why the scenario was not realistic, Paul made it clear he had no interest in continuing the topic.

“Because I don’t like to get into that. It’s not going to happen. So why are we talking about things that’re not going to happen?”

Despite being two of the most important players of their generation, LeBron and Curry have never been teammates in the NBA. Their rivalry defined multiple Finals matchups during the 2010s, but their paths never crossed on the same roster.

They have shared the floor in limited settings. Most recently, both stars played for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they helped the national team win a gold medal. They have also appeared together in several All-Star Games, though those games were exhibition only.
