Daniel Sturridge Leeds United
Thursday night saw Leeds United visit Anfield in what was expected to be a tough clash, considering how the Whites stopped Arne Slot’s side in the reverse fixture.
Leeds managed to come from 2-0 down to secure a draw at Elland Road, and after the game, Slot was frustrated, saying he believed his team should have won. Since that result, the Whites seem to be getting better and better with each game.

Unlike the last meeting between both sides where the managers encouraged attacking football, this time around it was a more conservative game. Leeds managed to shut out the Reds in an impressive performance over 90 minutes. Farke’s side got their perfect start to the New Year, and will hope their form continues in their fight for survival.
Daniel Sturridge gives shocking Leeds United verdict
Even though the visitors made sure they were compact defensively; there were times in the game where fans would feel that they should have gone for it. Especially late in the game when Farke took off his main attacking options. Daniel Sturridge, who was in the studio during the game, says maybe Leeds should have gone for the result:
“Oh, absolutely, but it was a good time to change (subbing on DCL and Okafor), and they caused big problems for Liverpool.
“I think it’s about protection. Look, it’s a top game for them tonight and like James Justin just said, going away at Anfield, you know they’re going to throw the kitchen sink at you, so it was important for them to defend well, which they did, so credit to them.”

Daniel Farke made the right call
Leeds got their tactics spot on, and even when Liverpool did create some half chances, they were stifled. But in the first game of the New Year, it was probably the best decision for the coach to preserve the result. Maybe going for it could have cost the Whites all the points instead of them continuing their unbeaten run.
Overall, this is a great result which will continue to boost the form of the team as the season progresses. Leeds are widening the gap between themselves and the relegation zone, which sets them up perfectly as they continue their fight for survival this season.
