Liverpool summer signing Jeremie Frimpong was handed just his third Premier League start in the New Year’s Day clash against Leeds United at Anfield.

Liverpool star Jeremie Frimpong made an honest declaration about Leeds United’s display at Anfield after seeing his side “frustrated” to a goalless draw in their first game of the new year.

Netherlands international right-back star Frimpong joined the Reds for £29.5m from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and the 25-year-old is now firmly back in the mix after recovering from a hamstring injury.

After being handed just his second Premier League start in the 2-1 win at home to Wolves at the end of December, Frimpong kept his place in the XI for the New Year’s Day visit of Leeds in which he took up a more attacking role on the right wing.

“It’s all I can say”

"It's really frustrating,” said Frimpong to Sky Sports post match, as quoted by Liverpoolfc.com.

“We wanted to win the game. I don't think we created that [many] chances.

"They defended well. At the end of the day, 0-0, it's very frustrating but on to the next game.

"Obviously we tried, of course we had a couple [of chances], I think I should have delivered the ball better. It's all I can say."
