Warriors trade rumors: Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green status update

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly interested in Anthony Davis, but a trade seems unlikely because they refuse to move Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler, making any deal financially complicated.

The Golden State Warriors remain firmly opposed to trading either Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler, a stance that complicates any attempt to match salaries in a deal for a high-level player, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Golden State Warriors / Schedule

Amick used Anthony Davis as an example while discussing Golden State's reported interest in the 10-time All-Star.

Although a league source indicated that the Dallas Mavericks have interest in Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, the fifth-year player's $22.5 million salary falls well short of AD's $54.1 million.

As a result, any realistic trade package would require the inclusion of another major contract, such as Green's $25.8 million deal.

However, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has publicly stated — and team sources have confirmed to The Athletic — that moving Green is not part of the organization's plans.

A straight swap involving Jimmy Butler would work financially, as the Warriors forward is also earning $54.1 million this season, but Golden State has shown no interest in pursuing that option either.

According to The Athletic, the Warriors have not completely ruled out a potential Davis trade, but it appears unlikely at this point.

Per the same report, the Mavericks initiated contact with Golden State regarding Davis — not the other way around.
