Harvey Elliott‘s thoughts about moving to the MLS have been made clear, while the Reds are said to be in talks to sign a defender.
Elliott to MLS rumour & defender talks
According to an update from the Times‘ Paul Joyce, “MLS is not an option Elliott is contemplating,” despite links with Charlotte FC on Thursday.
The MLS side have been mentioned as a loan option until the summer, but it remains to be seen what the future holds, in terms of Elliott staying at Aston Villa or returning to Liverpool.

Meanwhile, The Athletic’s James Pearce reports that Liverpool are in talks to sign Austria Vienna centre-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
The hope is that a deal will be agreed in time for the start of pre-season in July and the 17-year-old “would be recruited as part of Rob Page’s under-21s development squad,” before making the “step up to the senior setup.”
A more experienced centre-back signing in January would be nice, mind!

More from This Is Anfield
Henry Jackson and Abigail Rudkin have dissected yesterday’s 0-0 draw at home to Leeds, with the latter still sticking with Slot:
“I’ll be the first to admit it’s hard watching right now. But ultimately, we haven’t lost in eight matches, and nine games ago, it felt like we couldn’t buy a win.
“So it feels somewhat unfair to say the way we win isn’t good enough when Slot’s task right now is really to stop what was some heavy bleeding.
“He won the league and I feel at the very least that should buy him the opportunity to get over the hill and fix the issues he has on his hands.”
Is Arne Slot’s “hard watching” football enough to keep him at Liverpool this summer?

Liverpool FC: On this day

On this day in 2013, Liverpool completed the signing of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea for £12 million.
It ended up being a bargain, with the striker scoring 67 goals in 160 appearances and forging a world-class partnership with Luis Suarez in 2013/14.
Sadly, injuries ultimately defined Sturridge’s Liverpool career, but when fit and firing, he was one of Europe’s deadliest finishers.
Slot wouldn’t mind having him in his current squad!
