Liverpool beat European competition to signing–Player has‘chosen’Reds above others

Austria Vienna youngster Ifeanyi Ndukwe is set to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window after choosing the Reds.

That’s according to Heute, who cover the youngster’s future today. They’re relaying information from Kurier. They say the Austrian club are set to receive a ‘cash windfall’.

The newspaper reports that the U17 World Cup hero has made a decision about his future, with him set to join Liverpool in the summer.

He had a list of suitors, with Inter Milan’s chief scout even travelling to the Wachau region in April to observe the then 17-year-old in a youth game. Ndukwe decided against a transfer at that point, though, and extended his contract to 2028.

A flood of inquiries followed after the World Cup in Qatar. But Liverpool have moved ahead of the competition to wrap him up. The plan is for him to remain with the Austrian side until the end of the season to continued gaining experience.

According to the newspaper, Liverpool ‘have been chosen’. And the deal will benefit Austria Vienna too. They keep the player so benefit from a sporting perspective. But they will also receive a transfer fee of ‘several million Euros’.

That’s a welcome windfall for the club given their current, and continued, strained economic situation. They have a model to sign youngsters and then sell them for a profit and Ndukwe is the latest example.
