Fabrizio Romano says 'talented' player has accepted a deal to join Liverpool

Liverpool are making moves following the opening of the 2026 January transfer window.

The Reds confirmed on the first day of the year that James Norris has left the club permanently.

It was then claimed that Liverpool were close to signing Joel Ordonez from Belgian side Club Brugge.

However, a deal for Ordonez is not thought to be as imminent as some sources in South America have been suggesting.

Liverpool can only sign ONE player this January, which position should they strengthen?

But Liverpool are now thought to have agreed a deal for another player during the first week of the window.

Liverpool agree deal for Ifeanyi Ndukwe

Taking to his Instagram, journalist Fabrizio Romano says a deal for 17-year-old defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe has been agreed.

He wrote: “Liverpool agree deal to sign 17-year-old Austrian CB Ifeanyi Ndukwe.

“Agreement now in place for talented defender to leave Austria Wien and join Liverpool — from summer 2026.

“Seen as talented centre back, Ndukwe accepted the proposal from Liverpool from season 2026/2027.”

Born in Wien, the teenager joined his local side as a youngster from WAF Brigittenau Youth in 2016.

After working his way up their ranks, Ndukwe was promoted to Austria Wien’s first team in 2025.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for the club but has already earned 15 caps at U17 level for Austria.

Standing at just over 6ft 4in tall, Ndukwe is a towering centre-back.
