Head coach Nick Nurse said earlier this week that Oubre, who has been sidelined since November 14 with a sprained left knee, could rejoin the team during its current road trip.
His status for Saturday's matchup against the New York Knicks may hinge on whether he's able to take part in a full five-on-five scrimmage on Friday, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.
Oubre has shown steady progress in his recovery, participating in three-on-three drills on Monday and moving up to four-on-four action by Wednesday. While he said he's feeling good physically, the final decision will be left to the team's medical staff.
Before the injury, Oubre was averaging 16.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while starting all 12 of his appearances this season.
The Sixers are 18-14 on the season.
