As they aim to win it all today, Kerr fully acknowledged that he and the Warriors can't compete in the future anymore against several young and emerging teams.

In his appearance on the Tom Tolbert Show, Steve Kerr insisted that he and the Golden State Warriors are making the most out of their chances for a championship today.
For this, the Dubs head coach simply acknowledged the fact that they don't stand a chance in the future against several young and emerging teams.
“We just want a chance,” Kerr said. “Last year, we gave ourselves a chance. We know we’re not where we were five or six years ago, but we did win a championship three years ago and that felt like a post-glory-years title. We weren’t quite ourselves, but we were good enough to give ourselves a swing at the plate. Everything fell our way and we went and got a ring.”
“Last year was pretty cool, then Steph got hurt in Minnesota and we lost. But to go on that run, to beat Houston [in the first round]. ... That’s what we want this year and there’s no reason why we can’t give ourselves that opportunity.
"I don’t want anybody to think that we’re all delusional and thinking we should be competing for titles year in and year out with San Antonio and Oklahoma City the next few years. That’s not realistic.”
Kerr himself already admitted that the Warriors are indeed a fading dynasty.
As Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler are already approaching the final stages of their careers, the Warriors couldn't be more desperate to look for another shot to win again and clinch the franchise's fifth title since 2015.
But this season, they are considerably inconsistent. Golden State is currently No. 8 in the West with an 18-16 record. Several other teams like Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Denver and Houston are above the standings and are poised to conquer the future.
It remains to be seen if Kerr and the Warriors can go deep this year. But they are mindful enough that this 2025-26 campaign is simply a make-or-break outing for their dream of another championship.
