Paul Pierce blasts anti-Celtics bias, pushes Jaylen Brown for MVP

Paul Pierce believes Jaylen Brown deserves serious MVP consideration and was unfairly overlooked for Eastern Conference Player of the Month.

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce has sparked a debate over Jaylen Brown’s MVP chances for the 2025-26 season.

Pierce says the Celtics forward has been overlooked, pointing to what he sees as an ongoing anti-Celtics bias.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Pierce wrote: "And can we put Jalen Brown in the MVP Talk this is just ridiculous how did he not get POTM More Celtic hate but we use to it."

With Jayson Tatum out due to a torn Achilles, Brown has stepped up as Boston’s primary leader. The forward has guided the Celtics to third place in the Eastern Conference, yet Pierce argues his contributions have not received the recognition they deserve.

Brown had a stellar December, averaging 31.7 points per game while adding 6.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.2 steals. He shot 53.8 percent from the field and hit 42.6 percent of his three-pointers. Boston went 9-3 during the month, and Brown earned two Player of the Week awards.

Despite these numbers, the Eastern Conference Player of the Month honor went to Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, who posted similar stats as the Knicks went 10-4. Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took the Western Conference award.
