Heat reportedly refuse to include star player in any trade talks

The Miami Heat remain active around the trade deadline, but Bam Adebayo is not going anywhere. Despite exploring star-level upgrades, Miami views Adebayo as untouchable and central to its identity, even as interest from other teams continues to grow.

The Miami Heat are once again part of the trade deadline conversation, and much of the league focus is centered on how the franchise views Bam Adebayo.

NBA insider Zach Lowe offered insight into Miami's thinking, making it clear that while teams continue to ask about Adebayo, the Heat's stance has not changed.

Speaking about Miami roster direction, Lowe explained that he has been closely watching how the Heat are using both Adebayo and rookie big man Kel'el Ware.

“I do watch the Heat sometimes trying to figure out this Bam-Ware fit,” Lowe said on Zach Lowe's show. “I think Ware has a chance to be very good. Now he’s been in the absolute perfect developmental and is he going to continue on this path? No one is quite certain about that.”

Ware, the 15th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has quickly earned minutes with his rebounding, rim protection, and energy. He is averaging 12.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in limited minutes, giving Miami another interior option.

Lowe addressed the recurring question that follows Miami whenever a superstar becomes available.

“Would they ever put Bam in a package?” Lowe asked. “Would they ever just do it to sort of clarify their books, clarify their roster and sort of pivot to a younger direction?”

“I’ve never thought they would because having written a gigantic profile of Bam, I know what he is to that franchise,” he explained. “He is the standard-bearer, he is the culture-bearer. I don’t think there’s one part of them that wants to do it.”

Even so, Lowe noted that interest around the league remains strong.

“Other teams I know have for sure asked about Bam and have been told ‘Hell no’ and the wild card you also have to consider as they sniff around at Giannis and other star players, all of those star players want to play with Bam.”

The Heat are sitting at 19-15 and remain in the playoff mix, but Lowe's comments suggest their long-term vision is clear.
