A talented artist says she was “absolutely honoured” to be asked to create a Christmas gift for Scotland and Liverpool star Andy Robertson. Abigail Rudkin, 25, a huge Reds fan, says she was “absolutely buzzing” when Robertson’s wife, Rachel, reached out with the request.

The Glasgow-born defender’s dedicated piece celebrates Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup following their 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden. It also pays tribute to Robertson’s late former teammate and close friend Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car crash in Spain last summer.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, Abigail said the couple loved the finished artwork. She explained: “I was so blown away to be asked and completely honoured. I feel the piece captures the emotion he showed when he qualified for the World Cup, and also celebrates all his achievements as an international player.

“After his emotional interview mentioning Diogo, I added 20 balloons to the piece as a nod to him. Both Rachel and Andy reached out to say they absolutely loved it, which was the best feeling in the world.”

Abigail, who was inspired to start her art business by her love of football, shared the creation on X and Instagram. It has been widely praised by Liverpool supporters and Tartan Army fans alike.

“I’ve had so many messages from people saying they’re not Liverpool fans but Andy Robertson fans, and that the piece is a brilliant tribute to him as Scotland captain. It really makes all the hard work worth it,” she added.
