What started as a bigger role opportunity has turned into real production, and around the league, people are starting to take notice.
One of those voices is Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey. While speaking with former NBA guard Austin Rivers, Maxey praised Rollins and pushed his name into the league-wide spotlight when it comes to postseason awards.
“I think right now Ryan Rollins should be the leader — I don’t know who he is — but he is doing so good,” Maxey said.
The praise carries weight. Maxey knows the path well, as he won the Most Improved Player award in the 2023-24 season while also becoming an All-Star. His rise came after taking on more responsibility and delivering night after night. Rollins is now following a similar path in Milwaukee.
With Damian Lillard no longer on the roster, the Bucks needed someone to step up in the backcourt. Rollins has done exactly that. After averaging just 6.2 points per game last season, he improved to 17.4 points per game through his first 35 appearances this year.
