Jeremie Frimpong has warned Liverpool’s Premier League rivals that this is “just the start” for Florian Wirtz at Liverpool following the German’s recent upturn in form.
After a slow start to life at Anfield, Wirtz has begun to find his feet in the Premier League. He grabbed what proved to be the winning goal against Wolves last week, registered an assist at Tottenham seven days prior, and also set up crucial goals against Inter Milan and Sunderland last month.
In addition to the goal contributions, Wirtz is playing with an air of grace of confidence that was missing in the first months at Anfield. He has finally settled into a groove operating predominantly from an inverted position on the left.

Frimpong knows better than anyone what Wirtz is capable of, after sharing a dressing room with the 22-year-old at both Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. He is predicting big things from the midfielder in 2026.
“He’s top. I know how good a player Flo is,” Frimpong said after Liverpool’s goalless draw against Leeds on Thursday.
“I’ve said in plenty of interviews, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have won the treble with Leverkusen.

“So we know how good he is and to see him doing it now... this is just the start. There's plenty to come.
“That's my boy,” he continued. “When I heard he was coming [to Liverpool], it put a smile on my face because we basically started our Leverkusen career together. And we're starting our Liverpool career together as well.”
Wirtz’s underwhelming displays in the first months of the season resulted in heavy media scrutiny.
Given that he cost a then-record fee of £116 million ($156M) - one that was subsequently surpassed by Alexander Isak - it’s no surprise the spotlight has shone so brightly.
But the 22-year-old has said in interviews that he always knew the goals and assists would come, and Frimpong claimed his teammate does not get distracted by the outside noise.

“I think Flo is the type of player that he doesn’t care about these things, the price tag,” explained the Dutch international, who himself is beginning to settle after a difficult beginning to his Liverpool career.
“He's just happy to play football. For me personally, I think Flo takes pressure really well. He's just a guy that just loves the ball on his feet. When he plays, he's just enjoying.
“So for me, I don't think he cares about all this. Of course, on the outside, what was it, £116m? I don’t think he cares about all that. He knows how good he is. He just wants to play.”
