Russell Westbrook sets new NBA record after topping league legend

Russell Westbrook has been one of the best guards in NBA history, and he solidified that mark Friday after reaching the top of the sport in an impressive category.

The Sacramento Kings star and his team fell short against the Phoenix Suns. However, Westbrook’s 17 points moved him into the number one spot all-time among point guard scorers.

The nine-time NBA All-Star and former league MVP now has the chance to extend his legendary career and shoot to become the first point guard to ever surpass 27,000 points.

Robertson was an all-time NBA great that played for over 15 seasons for the Milwaukee Bucks and Cincinnati Royals. The former NBA champion averaged over 25.7 points per game in his career, including six seasons where he averaged over 30 points per game.

Westbrook and the Kings may be near the bottom of the Western Conference this season, but his personal achievements will certainly make the team interesting over the second half of the campaign.
