Ex-Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky once confessed that he regretted his move to Anfield.
The left-back was signed from Fulham in August 2010. He was given a four-year contract by his former Fulham manager Roy Hodgson, who had himself transitioned from Craven Cottage to Anfield just a month earlier. However, Hodgson's stint at Liverpool was short-lived, lasting only six months before he was dismissed, which led to trouble for Konchesky.
The former England international made a mere 18 appearances for the Merseyside club before Sir Kenny Dalglish, who replaced Hodgson at Liverpool, sent him on loan to Championship team Nottingham Forest in January 2011.

He permanently moved to Leicester City during the summer of 2011, bringing an end to his brief and unremarkable time at Liverpool, which included being ironically cheered by his own fans after being substituted during a match against Wolves.
Konchesky, whose former clubs Fulham and Liverpool are set to face off in a Premier League match at Craven Cottage on Sunday, later called the transfer the biggest mistake of his career.
Nonetheless, he admitted that he would have always accepted the offer due to Liverpool's prestige. He told the Liverpool ECHO: "Listen, I don't regret many things in my career. You look at it now, do I regret it? Only because of what happened.

"But I was 29 and going to one of the biggest clubs with a massive history. You can't turn that down. I knew the club was trying to change hands with the owners, but obviously not as much as it probably was behind the scenes.
"So I knew it was going to be difficult. It was a difficult time for the club. It was a difficult time for me, you know, and probably wouldn’t happen now. And I think at the time, looking back now like they didn't really want Roy Hodgson as the manager.
"I was one of Roy’s signings. So it was always going to be hard, you know? But if someone comes to you at 29 years old and it’s a club like Liverpool with that massive history, I think everyone will bite their hands off. And it was a dream come true."
He departed Leicester just 12 months before the East Midlands club's stunning Premier League title win to join Queens Park Rangers on loan. Short spells at Gillingham, Billericay Town, and East Thurrock United followed before he retired in 2020.
Konchesky, who won two England caps, moved into management after retiring from playing.

He joined Billericay as assistant player-manager to Jamie O'Hara in August 2020, but he departed the club in December that same year.
In May 2021, he assumed the position of assistant manager for West Ham Women and, a year on, he stepped into Olli Harder's shoes as the team's manager ahead of the 2022/23 FA WSL season.
However, on 28 May 2023, West Ham confirmed Konchesky's departure from his managerial role following a disappointing season with just one league victory to the team's name in 2023.
