Patrick Beverley's return to basketball in Greece: How’s he performing so far?

So far, in his three games with his new team, PAOK Thessaloniki, he has been averaging 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 turnovers in around 18 minutes per game.

After his scandalous exit from Hapoel Tel Aviv last season, 37-year-old former long-time NBA guard Patrick Beverley decided to return to Europe, signing with a team in Greece to continue his professional career.

So far, however, Beverley has struggled to find his rhythm with his new team, PAOK Thessaloniki, and has yet to live up to his reportedly massive €600,000 ($706,000) contract.

In his first three Greek League games, Beverley has averaged 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 turnovers in around 18 minutes per game.

With him on the roster, PAOK has recorded two wins in the Greek League, most recently losing to Mykonos, dropping to 9-3 in the standings and currently sitting third behind EuroLeague powerhouses Panathinaikos Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus.

It appears Beverley has a lot of work ahead to regain the form he displayed with Hapoel last season, where he averaged 10.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game in the EuroCup.

PAOK will also need much more from Beverley—not only to maintain their third-place standing in the Greek League but also to advance to the next stage of the FIBA Europe Cup. Currently, in the second stage of the competition, they are tied for first in Group M with a 2-0 record.

Selected with the 42nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, Beverley initially continued his career in Europe, playing for Dnipro, Olympiacos, and Spartak St. Petersburg before earning his NBA breakthrough with Houston, where he played from 2013 to 2017.

He later spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, earning All-Defensive Team honors in his first year with the franchise. Beverley went on to play for Minnesota, the Lakers, Chicago, Philadelphia, and most recently Milwaukee, which he joined in February 2024.

Over the course of his NBA career, Beverley appeared in 666 regular-season games, averaging 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per contest.
